Time lapse

Some time lapse videos can be breathtaking (others don’t quite cut it for me).  Here are some of the best that I’ve found.
(This page will be intermittently extended as and when I discover anything I like.)

Vancouver City

This is remarkable.  I stopped over in Vancouver once on my way to Vancouver Island.  Whiling away a few hours, I went up the observation tower, completely unaware that there were mountains so close.  To be greeted, when I got to the top, by such a spectacular view (just like at 1:34) was as truly breathtaking as it was a shock.  [4:57]

Atacama starry nights

The Very Large Telescope is at the top of Cerro Paranal in the Atacama desert of Chile where the sky is stunningly dark, steady and transparent.  This is a beautiful video of the night sky (with the VLT in the foreground).  [5:34]
