Two cars

839671_20855886

Two yuppies were out one sunny summer day, racing around the country lanes, each in their open top sports car.   And it came to pass that, unbeknownst to each other, they were on the same country lane heading for each other.

The lane was windy, the hedges were high and they were going awfully fast.

At the very last minute they saw each other and, standing on the brakes, narrowly avoided a nasty accident.

There was just time for the lady yuppie to scream “Pig!!!” at the gentleman yuppie as they passed.

And, sadly, not quite enough time for the man to yell back “Cow!!!” before he hit the large pig that was wandering in the road just past the bend.

Advanced students are encouraged to consider this story in the light of the maxim, ‘the meaning of a communication is what the recipient makes of it’.

(I cannot recall the source of this story.  If you know please let me know.)
