Three minute video of the week

Strange, chirpy yet vaguely disturbing video which makes reality seem like toys.

Story of the week

When the spiritual teacher and his disciples began their evening meditation, the cat who lived in the monastery with them made such noise that they were distracted.  So the teacher ordered that the cat be tied up during the evening practice. Years later, when the teacher died, the cat continued to be tied up during meditation.  And when the cat eventually died, another cat was brought to the monastery and tied up each session.  Centuries later, learned descendants of the spiritual teacher wrote scholarly treatises about the religious significance of tying up a cat for meditation practice.

Music toy of the week

Beware, this is addictive:  one of the best create-your-own-tune sites we’ve found.  (Send Jeremy an email if you want some tips.)
You need Flash for this, available free here

Quotation of the week

Be bloody, bold, and resolute…
Be lion-mettled, proud

The witches’ advice to Macbeth (IV, i)

Emotional intelligence video of the week

The great Dan Dennett explains that honey is sweet because we like it, not that we like it because it is sweet.
